Medical Assistance (MA)

MA is a federal program that may pay medical bills for people who can’t pay them.

MA is for people who:

  • Are under age 21
  • Are over age 65
  • Pregnant
  • Blind
  • Disabled (mentally or physically)
  • Some parents or caretakers of a child under age 19
  • If you get AFDC you will also get MA



General Assistance Medical Care (GAMC)

GAMC is a state program that may pay medical bills for people who can’t pay them.

GAMC is for people who:

  • Can’t receive Medical Assistance
  • Are not receiving help from other state and federal medical programs
  • If you receive GA you may also be eligible for GAMC.
