1. You may appear in person at the Vital Statistic Department nearest you in the State of Minnesota. You may call the facility to make sure your name is on the State Vital Statistics System.
2. When you arrive you will need to complete a Tangible Interest Form and present valid photo identification such as your driver's license. (A Tangible Interest Form is a form certifying your right to the copy.)
3. The cost for a certified copy is $16.00.
4. See Tangible Interest Form for other persons that are eligible to obtain a birth certificate for you by appearing in person with valid photo identification.

1. You must complete a Tangible Interest Form and sign the form in front of a Notary Public. You will need to show the Notary Public a valid photo indentification such as a driver's license.
2. Include a $16.00 check made payable to the Rice County Recorder and mail to:  320 N.W. Third Street - Suite 10, Faribault, MN  55021.
3. Send the completed Tangible Interest Form and correct dollar amount to the address listed on the bottom of this page.

Birth Certificate requests are processed
within 1-2 business days of when we receive them.

1. Send us the name, date of birth and place of birth.
2. Include a $13.00 check payable to Rice County Recorder.
