Rice County Offers Free Homeowner Septic Operation & Maintenance Workshop
Rice County Environmental Services and the University of Minnesota Extension Service are partnering to offer a free Homeowner Septic Operation and Maintenance Education Workshop on Wednesday, September 19th at 7:00 pm at the Forest Town Hall, 3625 W. Millersburg Blvd. Pre-registration is required.
Information will be presented by a University of Minnesota Extension educator on the proper operation and maintenance of septic systems. Topics will include: how a septic system works, how to tell when a system is failing, what happens when sewage is not properly treated, how to operate and maintain a septic system and ideas to extend the life of your system.
A 'Septic System Owner's Guide' will be distributed to all Homeowners who attend a workshop. This workshop can be used to qualify for the Septic Voluntary Incentive Payment program which provides a $300 rebate to qualified owners upgrading a failing septic system.
Funding for this educational opportunity was provided by the Rice County Clean Water Legacy Funding.
