Effective January 1, 2014, the County Surveyor will begin charging a fee for reviewing all Plats, Common Interest Community Plats (CIC), and Registered Land Survey Plats (RLS) prior to being recorded. The following fee schedule was approved by the Rice County Board of Commissioners; $200 per Plat, CIC, or RLS + $20 per Lot, Outlot, Unit, or Tract. This fee does not include any existing fees charged by Environmental Services or the Recorder’s office.
Land Surveyors or developers are asked to submit (2) full size paper copies of the proposed final plat to the County Surveyor located in the Assessor’s office at 320 3rd Street NW in Faribault, MN 55021. Checks shall be made payable to RICE COUNTY and submitted to the County Surveyor. Following the County Surveyor’s review, (1) of the copies will be returned to the Land Surveyor or developer. Typos, mathematical errors, and additional comments or concerns will be addressed.
Plats will be reviewed to verify they conform to applicable Minnesota State Statutes. All plats should also conform to the Manual of Guidelines for Platting in Minnesota or the Common Interest Community Plat Manual of minimum guidelines, which have been adopted by the Minnesota Association of County Surveyors & the Minnesota Society of Professional Surveyors.
