Patrol/Investigations

Twenty-four licensed and sworn staff of the Sheriff’s Office work the team approach to the majority of duties within this division. They share duties and assist each other as necessary within subdivisions and thereby providing a broader knowledge understanding of the total operation. We believe this methodology recruits and trains officers who are more rounded, better informed and more versatile to the organization and public as a whole. Six line supervisors direct the operations of this large, highly visible and responsible division. One clerical assistant and one evidence technician provide support for them.

Once a patrol deputy takes the initial report for crimes such as burglary, theft, assaults (both physical and sexual), the case is turned over to the Investigations Division for follow-up and further investigation.  One Sergeant and three Investigators make up the Investigations Division of the Sheriff’s Office.  These investigators receive specialized training in the areas of criminal investigations, surveillance, evidence collection & processing as well as interview techniques.  One investigator is assigned to the Cannon River Drug and Violent Offender Task Force.
