How do I get a plumbing or other building inspection set up?

Contact the Building Division at 507-332-6113. The Building Division performs field inspections of footings, foundations, plumbing, heating, fireplaces and related parts of residential and commerical buildings in Rice County. Please have a permit number and property owners name when calling for an inspection.

How do I find information on obtaining a commercial or non-commercial pesticide license?

Commercial License: Commercial Licensing is required for people who apply ANY pesticide on customer's land or sites.

Non-commercial License: Non-commercial Licensing is for Employees who apply Restricted Use Pesticides (RUPs) on employer's land/sites.

Private Certification: Private Applicator Certification is required if you apply Restricted Use Pesticides (RUPs) to land or sites you own, rent or lease for the production of agriculture commodities.

How do I find out about fertilizer applicator licensing?

Yes, a person who applies fertilizer for hire (regardless of whether the fertilizer product is custom blended, bagged, bulk, etc.) must obtain a fertilizer license from the Minnesota Department of Agriculture (MDA). A license is required for any application, including applications to lawns, plants (including trees and shrubs), and interior landscapes.
