Department Overview

The Planning & Zoning Office prepares and implements the County Comprehensive Plan and plans for all of the townships. This office issues all building permits and on-site sewer permits, enforces Wetland Conservation Act in a number of townships, administers the Zoning and Subdivision ordinances, and issues conditional use and administrative permits in the township areas. The department works with the Planning Commission, the Board of Adjustment, and assorted committees established for specific purposes related to the department's responsibilities. Planning Commission meetings are on the 1st Thursdays of each month. Board of Adjustment meetings are on the 2nd Monday of each month.
