University of Minnesota Extension - Rice County

The University of Minnesota Extension at Rice County is the education outreach of the University of Minnesota, connecting education and research to the needs of citizens and communities in Rice County.

Rice County links with the University of Minnesota to provide trained Extension staff in the areas of youth development (4-H), nutrition education, agriculture, natural resources and home horticulture. Educational programs are offered in group settings, one-on-one contacts, mass communications, distance learning, self learning opportunities and collaborative efforts including families, youth, seniors, food producers, communities and organizations.

In addition to Rice County, 15 Regional Centers have been established around the state, funded with state and federal dollars, providing educational programming in the areas of: Land, Food & the Environment; Community Development & Vitality; and Youth Development & Family Living.
