2018 Road Construction Season

The Rice County Highway Department’s construction season has begun.  This year’s projects include the following:

•  CSAH No. 1 (110th St E) – Complete reconstruction of 1.6 miles between MN TH No. 3 and MN TH No. 246.  The project includes a roundabout, 3-lane roadway with paved shoulders, storm sewer, and a trail with box culvert underpass.  CSAH No. 1 was closed to thru traffic on Monday, April 30, 2018.  A detour route is posted.   A link to a project webpage can be found on the Rice County Highway Department’s webpage, or at:  www.is-grp.com/csah 1-ricecounty/

•  Culvert Replacements & Rehabilitation on CSAH No. 4 (Independence Ave), CSAH No. 17 (Dalton Ave), CSAH No. 25 (197th St E), CR No. 80 (Jacobs Ave & Jenkins Ave), CR No. 88 (155th St E), CSAH No. 46 (Bagley Ave), CR No. 59 (90th St E), CSAH No. 76 (Acorn Tr), and CR No. 79 (90th St E)– Replace or rehabilitate existing culverts in preparation for future pavement resurfacing projects or maintenance needs.  Work scheduled to begin in April and be completed in August.  Daily road closures, travel delays and the use of alternate routes should be expected.

•  CSAH No. 19 (240th St E) – Mill, reclamation, pavement resurfacing and shoulder paving on 9.0 miles between CSAH No. 21 (Cabot Ave) and CSAH No. 26 (Lamb Ave).  Construction is anticipated to begin in June and be completed in August.  The roadway will remain open to traffic; however, single lane closures and travel delay should be expected.

•  CR No. 80 (Jacobs Ave) – Mill, reclamation and pavement resurfacing on 3.9 miles between 250th St E and MN TH No. 60.  Construction is anticipated to begin in May and be completed in June.  The roadway will remain open to traffic; however, single lane closures, and travel delay should be expected.

•  CR No. 81 (110th St E) – Mill, reclamation and pavement resurfacing on approximately 5.3 miles between  MN TH No. 246 and CSAH No. 31 (Dennison Blvd).  Construction is anticipated to begin in May and be completed August.  The roadway will remain open to traffic; however, single lane closures, and travel delay should be expected.

•  CR No. 94 (215th St W/Jennings Ave) – Mill, reclamation and pavement resurfacing on approximately 1 mile between CSAH No. 16 (Kanabec Ave) and CSAH No. 12 (210th St W).  Construction schedule is to be determined.  The roadway will remain open to traffic; however, single lane closures, and travel delay should be expected.

•  CSAH No. 46/CSAH No. 86 (Hazelwood Ave/30th St W) – Roundabout construction at the intersection of CSAH No. 46 and CSAH No. 86.  Construction is anticipated to begin in June and be completed in August.  Scott County is administering the contract.  The intersection will be closed to traffic and a detour route will be posted.

•  Pavement chip seal, striping, miscellaneous culvert replacements, pavement overlays, bridge deck sealing and other maintenance projects requiring temporary road closures at various locations throughout the County are planned for the duration of the construction season.
