2017 Road Construction Season

The Rice County Highway Department’s construction season is scheduled to begin on or about April 17, 2017, weather permitting.  This year’s projects include the following:

  • Culvert Replacements & Rehabilitation on CSAH No. 19 (240th St E), CR No. 80 (Jacobs Ave), CR No. 81 (110th St E), CSAH No. 26 (Larson Ave), CSAH No. 45 (Albers Ave), CSAH No. 3 (40th St W), CR No. 77 (Cabot Ave) and CSAH No. 46 (Bagley Ave) – Replace or rehabilitate existing culverts in preparation for future pavement resurfacing projects or maintenance needs.  Work scheduled to begin in April and be completed in August.  Daily road closures, travel delays and the use of alternate routes should be expected.
  • CSAH No. 8 (130th St E) – Mill, reclamation and pavement resurfacing on 3.0 miles between CSAH No. 46 and CR No. 77.  Construction is anticipated to begin in June and be completed in August.  The roadway will remain open to traffic; however, single lane closures and travel delay should be expected.
  • CSAH No. 1, 8 & 20 (City of Dundas) – Mill and bituminous surfacing of the County roadways within the corporate limits of Dundas.  Construction schedule to be determined.  The roadway will remain open to traffic; however, single lane closures, temporary parking restrictions and travel delay should be expected.
  • CSAH No. 23 (Gates Ave) – Mill, reclamation and pavement resurfacing on 6.0 miles between the Steele County line and MN TH No. 60.  Construction schedule to be determined.  The roadway will remain open to traffic; however, single lane closures, and travel delay should be expected.
  • CSAH No. 33 (Gonvick Ave) – Mill, reclamation and pavement resurfacing on approximately 2.8 miles between  CSAH No. 1 and 80th St W.  Construction schedule to be determined.  The roadway will remain open to traffic; however, single lane closures, and travel delay should be expected.
  • CR No. 71 (230th St W) – Mill, reclamation and pavement resurfacing on approximately 1 mile between CSAH No. 16 and Independence Avenue.  Construction schedule to be determined.  The roadway will remain open to traffic; however, single lane closures, and travel delay should be expected.
  • CR No. 75 (145th St E) – Bituminous pavement overlay on approximately 1 mile between MN TH No 3 and the Rice County landfill.  Construction schedule to be determined.  The roadway will remain open to traffic; however, single lane closures, and travel delay should be expected.
  • Bridge No. 92131 Replacement on CSAH No 21 (Cabot Ave) – Bridge removal and replacement located over Mud Creek.  Construction scheduled to begin in May.  The roadway will be closed and detour routes will be posted.
  • Culvert R0514 Replacement on Ibson Ave (Richland Township) – Culvert removal and replacement located approximately 0.5 miles south of CSAH No. 19 (240th St E).  Construction anticipated in September.  The roadway will be closed and the use of an alternate route should be expected.
  • Culvert 3002 Replacement on Appleton Ave (Warsaw Township) – Culvert removal and replacement located approximately 0.75 miles south of CSAH No. 15 (250th St W) over Mud Creek.  Construction anticipated in September.  The roadway will be closed and the use of an alternate route should be expected.
  • CSAH No. 29 (170th St E) Drainage Improvements – Subdrain installation along approximately 1.1 miles of CSAH No. 29 through the Big Woods State Park.  Construction anticipated in May/June.  The roadway will be closed and a detour route will be posted.
  • Culvert L3915 Replacement on CR No. 90 (255th St E) – Culvert removal and replacement located between Ibson Ave and Irwin Ave.  Construction schedule to be determined.  The roadway will be closed and a detour route will be posted.
  • Pavement chip seal, striping, miscellaneous culvert replacements, pavement overlays, and other maintenance projects requiring temporary road closures at various locations throughout the County are planned for the duration of the construction season.
