Household Hazardous Waste


Due to the current COVID-19 situation, the Rice County Landfill, Recycling Center and Household Hazardous Waste Facilities are all closed to the Public until further notice. The Landfill and Recycling Center remains open only to current Licensed Haulers in Rice County.

The Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) division is responsible for the operation of a permanent regional Household Hazardous Waste Facility that allows residents to dispose of their household hazardous waste.

In addition, the division accepts very small quantity generator waste and facilitates a product exchange/reuse area.

Household Hazardous Waste

Improper use or disposal of hazardous materials can be harmful to human health and the environment. The Rice County Solid Waste Facility is an authorized disposal center and will accept hazardous household materials (HHW) from Rice County residents free of charge.

Business Hazardous Waste

The Rice County Solid Waste Facility is licensed by the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency to accept Very Small Quantity Generator (VSQG) business hazardous waste.


Businesses wishing to dispose of their hazardous waste must call the Solid Waste Facility to pre-register, review the fee schedule, and set up a delivery time.
