Departments

  1. Administration

    The County Administrator is the administrative head of the County and is responsible for the proper administration of affairs for the county.

  2. Assessor's Office

    The office of the Assessor is responsible for discovering, listing and valuing all taxable property, both real and personal, for ad valorem tax purposes.

  3. Attorney's Office

    The mission of the Rice County Attorney's Office is to promote justice, public safety, and effective government by prosecuting crime, protecting the vulnerable, and representing Rice County with effective creative leadership.

  4. Auditor/Treasurer's Office

    The County Auditor / Treasurer calculates rates and prepares tax information, tax statements and "Truth in Taxation" notices.

  5. Community Corrections

    The Rice County Department of Community Corrections works closely with criminal justice system stakeholders, schools, victim service agencies, youth service agencies, social services and community groups to address the characteristics of offenders that lead to recidivism.

  6. County Coroner

    The Coroner provides death investigative services for deaths that occur in Rice County. All deaths that are sudden or unexpected or occur from other than natural causes must be reported to the Coroner. The information gathered during a forensic death investigation and subsequent autopsy can be critical in civil or criminal court cases. Our goal is to assist families, law enforcement agencies and the legal system by determining the cause and manner of death.

  7. Court Administration

    The Court Administrator provides staff support for a full range of court operations for the District Court. The department is responsible for processing and management of all records and files of the court as well as providing services to the public, other county offices and the judiciary. The department is also responsible for processing and calendaring of Civil, Family/Probate, Criminal/Traffic, Juvenile, and Conciliation (small claims) cases through the court system. Court Administration is also responsible for the collection and disbursement of fines, fees, and restitution, and safeguarding all court ordered trusts.

  10. Environmental Services

    The mission of the Rice County Environmental Service Department is to proactively address the needs of the community by providing solution-oriented services and standards that facilitate development and growth of the local economy; reduce and manage waste; and protect, and enhance the quality of life and environment for current and future generations.

  11. Extension: University of Minnesota

    The University of Minnesota Extension at Rice County is the education outreach of the University of Minnesota, connecting education and research to the needs of citizens and communities in Rice County.

  12. Highway

    The mission of the Rice County Highway Department is to construct and maintain a system of highways and bridges, facilitating the safe and efficient movement of people and goods throughout the county.

  13. Housing

    The HRA's primary purpose is to administer the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Program.

  14. Human Resources

    The Rice County Human Resources Department is responsible for employee services.

  15. Information Technology

    Information Technology’s mission is to provide professional, responsive support to effectively deliver technology services and innovative solutions to Rice County.

  16. Parks & Facilities

    The Parks & Facilities Department plans, manages and conducts the physical operation, maintenance and capital renewal of Rice County buildings, parks and other facilities.

  17. Public Health

    Rice County Public Health functions through the authority of the Rice County Community Health Board and has the responsibility to assure that the health of Rice County citizens is protected, maintained, and enhanced.

  18. Recorder's Office

    The Rice County Recorder/Registrar of Titles is the custodian of all property and vital statistic records in Rice County.

  19. Sheriff's Office

    The Sheriff’s Office provides law enforcement protection and service throughout the county, operates and maintains a detention facility, acts as officers of the court provide courthouse security and prisoner conveyance, directs emergency management, conduct search and rescue operations, and oversees recreational education and enforcement.

  20. Social Services

    The Social Service Department provides community supported social services and financial assistance for eligible people to promote their dignity and independence.

  21. Solid Waste Facility

    The mission of the Rice County Solid Waste Facility is to properly collect and safely dispose of waste generated by the residents and businesses of Rice County in a manner that is environmentally safe.

  22. Veterans' Services
